BREAKING: Boko Haram Terrorists Kill Army Captain in Borno

Boko Haram terrorists have killed an army captain and a soldier during an overnight attack on Izge community in Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State. The assault occurred around 1am on Wednesday, marking another grim episode in the insurgents’ renewed wave of violence.

This latest attack comes just two weeks after President Bola Tinubu directed service chiefs to bring an end to the persistent killings plaguing parts of northern Nigeria.

Confirming the incident, the Emir of Gwoza, His Royal Highness Alhaji Mohammed Shehu Timta, said the terrorists stormed the village and clashed with security forces.

“It’s true that my people in Izge community came under Boko Haram attack around 1am. Unfortunately, a Captain and a Soldier paid the supreme price,” he said.

Despite the casualties, the Emir commended the swift response of security personnel, including the Nigerian Army, Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), hunters, and vigilantes, who fought back fiercely.

“But our gallant troops, the Civilian JTF, hunters, vigilantes and the resilient community members also killed three terrorists.

“The terrorists abandoned their weapons, over 10 motorcycles and they are still on the run, while being trailed by our security men,” he added.

The Emir offered prayers for the fallen soldiers and praised their bravery in defending the community.

“May Allah (SWT) grant the departed souls Jannatul Firdaus. Our gallant men are still in the bush, sacrificing their lives to maintain peace in the society,” he said.

He also extended his gratitude to Borno State Governor, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum, for his continuous logistical support to security agencies. However, he urged the federal government to strengthen the fight against terrorism by equipping security forces with modern technological warfare tools.
