According to reports, Olufemi Soneye, the Chief Communications Officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Ltd (NNPCL), has announced that the lengthy queues resulting from fuel scarcity will clear up by Wednesday, May 1, 2024.
Addressing the issue on Tuesday in Lagos, Soneye mentioned that over 1.5 billion litres of fuel, which can sustain for a month is available, signalling a promising outlook. He reassured the public that logistical challenges had been resolved and normalcy would return soon. Soneye also highlighted the opportunistic behaviour of some individuals exploiting the situation to overcharge vehicle owners for petrol, saying that the queues would soon diminish.
Similarly, Hammed Fashola, the National Vice President of the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN), expressed optimism regarding the clearance of queues in Lagos and Ogun states. However, he noted that the queues might persist a bit longer in Abuja due to the distance from Lagos.
