Removed Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa, reportedly arrived at the assembly complex on Thursday in the company of security personnel.
According to reports, Obasa entered the Speaker’s Office around midday, an incident that came shortly after security aides assigned to the current Speaker, Mojisola Meranda, were withdrawn.
Videos and pictures circulating on social media showed a crowd of his supporters gathered outside the complex, holding placards and singing in his support.
Confirming the situation, Meranda’s Chief Press Secretary, Segun Ajiboye, alleged in a brief statement that Obasa and his team had forcefully entered the office.
