27 More Palestinians Killed by Israeli Gunfire While Waiting for Aid in Gaza

At least 27 Palestinians were killed and many others wounded on Saturday as Israeli forces opened fire on crowds waiting for food aid in central and northern Gaza, Anadolu reports.

Medical sources and witnesses said that in central Gaza, 15 Palestinians lost their lives and dozens were injured near a food distribution point close to US-Israeli aid centres near the Netzarim corridor. Israeli military vehicles and drones reportedly fired indiscriminately at the gathered civilians.

Separately, in northern Gaza’s Beit Lahia, at least 12 Palestinians were killed and over 50 wounded when Israeli artillery shelled civilians waiting for aid after rumours spread that international aid trucks would pass through the area.

UN agencies have reported that Israel has blocked the entry of humanitarian, food, and medical supplies into Gaza since early March, causing widespread famine and pushing the healthcare system towards collapse.

Since October 2023, the Israeli military has carried out a harsh bombardment on Gaza, killing nearly 55,300 Palestinians, mostly women and children. The Israeli army has rejected international calls for a ceasefire during ongoing violence.

Last November, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, accusing them of war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza. Israel also faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice over its actions in the enclave.
