Four Super Falcons players were named in the team of the tournament at the recently concluded Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON). The Nigerian players named are Rasheedat Ajibade, Esther Okoronkwo, Michelle Alozie, and Chiamaka Nnadozie.
Ajibade was awarded the woman of the match in three of the Falcons’ six games as they secured Nigeria’s tenth WAFCON title. She was also recognised as the tournament’s best player.
Okoronkwo contributed two goals and four assists during the competition and was named the Woman of the Match in the final, where she scored and assisted a goal.
Nnadozie received the accolade of best goalkeeper of the tournament after achieving clean sheets in four out of Nigeria’s six games.

Alozie was consistently present at right back for Nigeria, and her late goal against South Africa in the semi-final was crucial in sending the Falcons to the final.
Other players included in the team of the tournament are Morocco’s Ghizzlane Chebbak and Ibtissam Jraidi, along with the South African trio of Bambanani Mbane, Karabo Dhlamini, and Refiloe Jane. Ghana’s Portia Boakye and Grace Asantewaa rounded out the selection.
On Saturday, Nigeria pulled off a thrilling 3-2 win over Morocco in the final, highlighting Nigeria’s superiority in African women’s football.
