At least three people were killed and four others seriously injured in a road accident near Kedowa Trading Centre along the Kericho-Nakuru Highway in Kenya on Thursday.
Police said the crash occurred when a Toyota Probox carrying seven passengers collided head-on with a trailer travelling toward Nakuru.
The Probox, reportedly carrying family members returning home after holiday celebrations, was heading toward Kedowa at the time.
According to reports from Breaking Kenya News, Kericho County Police Commander James Ngetich said that preliminary investigations point to drunk driving as the likely cause.
Police believe the Probox occupants had been drinking and were reportedly searching for more alcohol after bars in Kericho County closed in line with regulated hours.

The collision left three people dead at the scene, while four others sustained injuries and were rushed to Kericho County Referral Hospital, where they remain under treatment.
The bodies of the deceased were taken to Londiani Sub-County Hospital mortuary pending autopsy, and the wrecked vehicles were towed to Kericho Police Station as investigations continue.
Commander Ngetich confirmed that a full probe is underway to determine the exact circumstances of the crash.
He has also issued a strong appeal to motorists: “We urge all road users to strictly follow traffic rules, especially during this festive season.”
Police reported that 15 people died in separate accidents on Christmas Eve, including six pedestrians, three riders, three passengers, a driver, a rider, and a pedal cyclist.
The National Police Service (NPS) has emphasised that road safety remains a top priority, especially during the festive season when traffic volumes rise significantly.
