Chinese Ambassador Li Xiang met with Mali‘s Minister of Defence, Major General Daoud Aly Mohammedine, to deepen security and diplomatic cooperation between the two nations.
The high-level talks focused on expanding military collaboration and ensuring the safety of Chinese interests as the two countries mark 65 years of bilateral relations.

At the start of the meeting, Ambassador Li Xiang expressed gratitude for the warm reception and praised the respect and care afforded to Chinese citizens living in Mali.
He noted that over 10,000 Chinese nationals reside in the country and contribute significantly to its economic and social development.
The ambassador also thanked Minister Mohammedine for safeguarding Chinese citizens and their property and commended efforts to enhance cooperation in military training, technical assistance, and the supply of equipment.
In response, Minister Mohammedine congratulated Ambassador Li Xiang on his appointment, highlighting his diplomatic experience and expertise in international relations.
He expressed confidence in the ambassador’s ability to strengthen Mali-China relations.
The minister emphasised the shared respect for sovereignty between the two nations and noted that their relationship has been elevated to a strategic partnership, reflecting mutual commitment to cooperation in areas of shared interest.
