More than 50 survivors of the recent attack on the Woro community in the Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State are receiving medical care in hospitals for injuries sustained during the assault.
The assailants inflicted injuries of varying severity on the victims, including gunshot wounds, during the deadly raid, which also extended to the neighbouring Nuku community.
The senator representing Kwara North Senatorial District, Sadiq Umar, visited some of the injured survivors, offered his condolences, and described the incident as heartbreaking.
He prayed for their swift recovery and assured them of his continued support throughout their treatment and rehabilitation.
Senator Umar commended President Bola Tinubu for deploying security operatives under Operation Savannah Shield to restore calm and pursue those responsible for the attack.
He also praised Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for his prompt response, particularly his directive to the State Emergency Management Agency to distribute relief materials to affected residents.
The lawmaker called for sustained security operations across Kwara North, citing the district’s ongoing security challenges.
He urged residents to remain united, hopeful, and prayerful, while reaffirming his commitment to their welfare and to lasting peace in the area.

Meanwhile, the Inspector-General of Police has ordered the immediate deployment of tactical, operational, and intelligence assets to Kaiama Local Government Area.
The Nigeria Police Force condemned the attack as tragic and confirmed that security agencies have launched a manhunt for the perpetrators.
Gunmen attacked the Woro and Nuku communities on Tuesday, killing at least 75 people, burning shops and the residence of a traditional ruler, and forcing many residents to flee.
While some reports suggested higher casualties, the Kwara State Police Command confirmed on Channels Television’s The Morning Brief that the death toll stands at 75.
Governor AbdulRazaq described the incident as a “pure massacre” and confirmed that authorities have buried at least 75 victims.
Political groups, including the Northern States Governors’ Forum, have condemned the killings as barbaric.
