The Nigerian Army says Troops have apprehended 53 suspected criminals and alleged extremist group members during coordinated operations in Plateau State within the last 24 hours.
According to operational updates, troops under Operations Ensuring Peace conducted targeted raids in the Barkin Ladi and Jos North Local Government Areas.
In Barkin Ladi, Sector 4 troops reportedly raided suspected drug hideouts in Angwan Yama and Kasua, arresting nine suspects found with suspected Cannabis sativa, mobile phones, power banks, and other items.
In a separate operation around 1:30 a.m., Sector 1 troops, supported by Special Forces and the Department of State Services, arrested 44 suspected members of the Sara Suka group across several communities in Jos North.
Authorities said various weapons were recovered during the operation.

“In a separate raid around 0130 hours, troops of Sector 1, supported by the Special Forces and the Department of State Services, arrested 44 suspected members of the Sara Suka group across multiple communities in Jos North, recovering various dangerous weapons,” the report stated.
The report also noted that troops recovered four stolen cattle from Lugere community in Riyom Local Government Area and returned them to their owner, while efforts continued to track down the rustlers.
In related developments, troops responding to communal violence and suspected militia activity in Taraba and Benue states recovered two bodies during ongoing investigations. One civilian was also injured by gunfire in Guma Local Government Area and was taken to a medical facility for treatment.
The Army said the operations reflect ongoing efforts to dismantle criminal and extremist networks while maintaining law and order across affected regions.
This comes shortly after troops of the 6 Brigade Nigerian Army/Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke arrested two suspected gunrunners in Taraba State and recovered 444 rounds of ammunition during a stop-and-search operation along the Wukari–Ikyaior road.
