In a statement issued on Wednesday by the Force Public Relations Officer, Anthony Placid, the police chief extended Eid-el-Kabir greetings to Muslims and reaffirmed the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to maintaining peace and security nationwide.

It also stated that visibility policing, surveillance operations, coordinated patrols and intelligence-driven stop-and-search activities would be intensified to deter criminal activities and ensure rapid response to potential threats.

The IGP urged Nigerians to remain vigilant and support security agencies with timely and credible information, stressing that public cooperation remained essential to maintaining safety during the festive season.

He advised residents to promptly report suspicious persons, unattended items, unusual gatherings or movements around prayer grounds, markets, motor parks and other crowded locations, noting that timely reports from citizens could help prevent security incidents.

“Every Nigerian has a role to play in keeping our communities safe during this festive season. A timely report from a vigilant citizen can save lives,” he said.

“Do not ignore suspicious activity. Do not assume someone else has already reported it. Your call is confidential and could prevent a tragedy.”

The police also released emergency contact lines for public use during the celebrations: 08057000001, 08057000002, 09133333785 and 09133333786.

The IGP further assured Nigerians of the force’s continued commitment to protecting lives and property throughout the Eid-el-Kabir celebrations.
