The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State has reaffirmed that the list of its National Assembly candidates ahead of next year’s general elections remains unchanged, dismissing claims of any alterations.

In a statement issued on Monday by the party’s Publicity Secretary, Olawale Sadare, the APC said the list of candidates was approved by the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) after the primary elections held in May.

According to the party, the names of its three senatorial candidates and 14 House of Representatives candidates have already been uploaded to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) portal in line with legal requirements, while the nominated candidates have completed the submission of their nomination forms at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja.

The APC expressed concern over reports that some unsuccessful aspirants were allegedly spreading false information on social media by claiming to be candidates, accusing them of attempting to create unnecessary tension within the party.

The party maintained that its senatorial candidates remain:

  • Yunus Akintunde – Oyo Central
  • Aderemi Oseni – Oyo South
  • Hannah Ogunesan – Oyo North

It also confirmed that its House of Representatives candidates include Akeem Adeyemi, Segun Odebunmi, Tajudeen Kareem, Akin Alabi, Olafisoye Akinmoyede, Folake Olunloyo-Oshinowo, Tolulope Akande-Shadipe, Olamijuwon Alao-Akala, Olatubosun Oladele, Umar Farouk Alao, Ibrahim Iyiola, Sarafa Olaoniye, Saheed Adejare Yusuf, and Yusuf Asimiyu Osuolale for their respective constituencies.

The party reminded members and stakeholders that the deadline for political parties to submit candidates to INEC has already passed.

It warned individuals who are allegedly presenting themselves as APC candidates without the party’s approval to stop doing so, stressing that there can be only one candidate for the same elective position under the party’s platform.
