A shooting in Toronto has left two people dead and three others injured as police continue searching for the attacker who fled the scene.
The incident happened on Saturday night in an area filled with shops and restaurants.
Toronto police urged residents to stay away from the area while officers secured the scene.
“Please avoid the area immediately and follow all directions from police,” the department said in a post on X.

Police later confirmed that the area had been secured but did not provide details about the suspect.
Local media reported that the shooting occurred near a location hosting a salsa festival, though authorities have not confirmed whether the event was connected to the attack.
The incident comes weeks after another deadly shooting in Montreal, where two people, including a police officer, were killed before the suspect was shot dead by law enforcement.
Earlier this year, a school shooting in Tumbler Ridge, a small mining town in western Canada, left eight people dead, including the shooter’s mother and half-brother.
The attack also injured 27 others before the shooter died by suicide.
