Kwara PDP Urges Governor to Rescue 176 Kidnap Victims

The Kwara State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has called on Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq to intensify efforts to secure the release of 176 women and children abducted from Woro community in Kaiama Local Government Area.

The opposition party made the appeal while congratulating the Oyo State Government on the successful rescue of schoolchildren and teachers who regained their freedom after spending more than 50 days in captivity.

In a statement issued by the party’s Publicity Secretary, Olusegun Adewara, the PDP described the Oyo rescue operation as proof that committed leadership, sustained engagement and effective collaboration with security agencies can produce positive results in addressing insecurity.

According to the party, the successful operation in Oyo demonstrated the importance of making the safety of citizens a top priority through coordinated efforts between state authorities, the Nigerian Government and security agencies.

The PDP urged the Kwara State Government to adopt a similar level of urgency in handling the abduction of residents of Woro community, who have remained in captivity since the attack on February 3, 2026.

The party expressed concern that while Oyo residents are celebrating the return of the abducted victims, families of those kidnapped in Woro are still waiting for concrete action from the state government.

It argued that the prolonged captivity of the 176 women and children reflects the need for stronger government intervention and a more proactive approach to tackling insecurity.

The opposition maintained that protecting lives and securing the release of abducted residents should remain a priority for the state government, urging Governor AbdulRazaq to strengthen collaboration with security agencies to ensure the victims regain their freedom as quickly as possible.
