President Bola Tinubu has inaugurated the All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Council for the 2027 general election, calling for unity within the party while insisting that governance will remain a priority as political activities intensify.
Tinubu inaugurated the council on Wednesday at the State House Conference Centre in Abuja, where he told APC leaders and campaign officials that the party must work collectively to secure support across the country.
Addressing members of the council, the President said the APC was prepared to “renew its covenant” with Nigerians and challenged party members to deliver votes in their respective wards.

“I thank all of you for the last election, but no one gets credit for an incomplete assignment until you deliver the next election, until you deliver your electoral wards, until you deliver the votes,” Tinubu said.
The President also acknowledged advice from Imo State Governor and Chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum, Hope Uzodimma, that campaigning should not distract him from his responsibilities in office.
Tinubu said his administration would continue implementing its policies while the campaign council leads political mobilisation across states and local government areas. He added that he would still make time to engage directly with Nigerians.
“We have bills to pay. The American creditors cannot wait. We want those investors to come in and invest for the future of our children,” he said.
Uzodimma assured Tinubu that APC governors and party leaders would communicate the administration’s message to Nigerians during the campaign.
Vice President Kashim Shettima also addressed the gathering, praising Tinubu’s role in Nigeria’s democratic politics while criticising opposition figures, including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi.

Shettima said political debate should respect the office of the President, while accusing Obi of using statistics and international comparisons without sufficient context.
Tinubu also praised Shettima, Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and Deputy Governor Obafemi Hamzat, reflecting on infrastructure projects undertaken during his tenure as Lagos governor.
