The Federal High Court in Kaduna has adjourned the corruption trial of former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai to December 8, 2026.
The postponement follows the appointment of a new prosecuting counsel, Ibrahim Mukhtar, who formally requested additional time to examine the extensive case records.
Additionally, the presiding judge set October 16 to hear a bail application submitted by co-defendant Jimi Lawal, a former senior official in the Kaduna State government.

El-Rufai departed the court premises shortly after the judge granted the adjournment.
Earlier in the day, the former governor attended proceedings for a separate matter involving the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC).

The legal proceedings form part of broader, ongoing investigations into alleged financial misconduct during El-Rufai’s tenure as governor from May 2015 to May 2023.
El-Rufai has consistently denied all accusations of financial wrongdoing, and the court maintains his presumption of innocence pending final judicial determination.
