The Rivers State Police Command has ordered a full investigation into allegations that suspected cultists financed the renovation of the Abuloma Police Outpost and later visited the facility to celebrate the completion of the work.
The investigation follows a video circulating on social media, which reportedly showed individuals alleged to be members of a cult group at the police facility on Thursday, October 15, 2026.
In a statement on Friday, the Rivers State Police Command condemned any action or relationship that could compromise the integrity and professional standards of the Nigeria Police Force or give suspected criminal groups legitimacy or public recognition.
The command said police facilities are public institutions established to protect citizens and enforce the law and should not be used by unlawful groups to gain influence or validation.
Following the allegations, the Divisional Police Officer in charge of Abuloma Division and the officer overseeing the affected police outpost were queried and relieved of their duties pending the outcome of the investigation.

Commissioner of Police Olugbenga Adepoju also directed investigators to establish the identities and backgrounds of those who financed or facilitated the renovation, determine who authorised the project and ascertain whether the required procedures were followed.
The investigation will also examine whether any police personnel breached professional standards or had improper dealings with those involved.
While acknowledging that communities can legally support improvements to police facilities, the command said such assistance must comply with the Nigeria Police Act 2020 and must not compromise police independence, security, or professional standards.
It added that donations or assistance to the police do not provide immunity from investigation or prosecution.
The Rivers State Police Command said it would take disciplinary and legal action against anyone found culpable after the investigation, reaffirming its commitment to transparency, accountability, and the fight against cultism and organised crime.
