Belgian federal police have searched residences in Brussels and elsewhere in the country as part of a money-laundering investigation linked to associates of Democratic Republic of the Congo President Felix Tshisekedi, a source close to the probe disclosed on Saturday.
The raids, carried out this week, were confirmed by federal prosecutors, who said they opened the inquiry in 2025 after complaints from three Congolese activist groups.

The source, speaking on condition of anonymity, said the searches targeted people close to Tshisekedi but declined to identify them.
The complainants allege fraud in the DRC‘s mining sector.
Bernard Maingain, a Belgian lawyer representing the groups, said when the action was announced last year that the suspicions concerned nine members of the “presidential family” holding Belgian nationality.
