President Bola Tinubu has extended condolences to the family of former Delta State Governor Emmanuel Eweta Uduaghan, who died at 71.
Tinubu described Uduaghan as a public servant whose leadership was devoted to the state’s development and service to the nation.
Tinubu, in a statement issued by the State House on Monday, noted that Uduaghan served as commissioner for health and secretary to the state government before being elected governor in 2007. His two-term tenure ended in 2015.

The president said Uduaghan pursued developmental strides in infrastructure, healthcare delivery and the welfare of Delta residents, and remained prominent in the state’s political and socio-economic landscape after leaving office, contributing to democratic governance and public service.

“His passing is a great loss to his family, his community, Delta State, and the nation at large,” Tinubu said.
The president urged the people of Delta State to draw strength from Uduaghan’s years of service and the relationships he built across the country’s political and social terrain.
Tinubu extended sympathies to Uduaghan’s wife, Roli; his children; his cousin, former Governor James Ibori; and friends and political associates.
“May Almighty God grant his soul eternal rest and comfort all who mourn him,” the president said.
