A magnitude 6.3 earthquake struck off the coast of the South Pacific nation of Vanuatu on Tuesday, according to the United States Geological Survey (USGS).
The earthquake’s epicentre was located about 200 kilometres northwest of Port Olry, a village in the island nation.

The Pacific Tsunami Warning Centre reported that the tremor posed no tsunami threat.
Vanuatu frequently experiences earthquakes because it lies along the Pacific Ring of Fire, a belt of intense seismic activity that extends through Southeast Asia and across the Pacific Ocean.
