The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested four individuals for the illegal production and distribution of counterfeit herbicides.
This was disclosed in a statement issued on Sunday by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Superintendent Ahmed Wakil.
Wakil stated that on May 3, 2025, at approximately 13:30 hours, detectives from the Command’s Monitoring Unit acted on credible intelligence and uncovered a counterfeit herbicide operation being carried out in a residential area of Bauchi metropolis.
The suspects were named as Usman Suleman (21) of Karofin Madaki, Ahmad Musa (20) of Wuntin Dada, and Muhammad Nuhu (17) of Fadaman Mada—all residents within Bauchi city.
They were apprehended while actively producing the fake substances at a house located in the Unguwan Liman area.
A thorough search of the premises led to the seizure of 26 cartons labelled “Force Up”, one empty carton of “Gobora”, two plastic drums containing a suspicious liquid, two buckets, and 100 empty one-litre containers branded “Force Up”.
Other items recovered included sealing tape, scissors, super glue, leather material, charcoal, five welding spoons, a charcoal stove, and assorted cover seals.
During questioning, the suspects implicated one Muhammad Muhammad, aged 36, of Fadaman Mada, who was subsequently arrested in connection with the operation.
All suspects are currently in police custody as investigations continue, with the aim of dismantling the network behind the illegal trade.
