The pupils and teachers abducted in Orire, Oyo State, have regained their freedom after spending more than 50 days in captivity.
The development was announced on Friday by the Presidency through the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.
In a post on X, Onanuga confirmed that the victims had been released by their abductors, bringing an end to weeks of uncertainty over their fate.

Onanuga also disclosed that “in the course of the rescue operation, eight of the kidnappers were arrested and are now in DSS custody, while some of them were neutralised.”
He added that “There was no quid pro quo in the rescue as one of the terrorists, a kingpin, that the kidnappers demanded his release, is being prosecuted for his atrocities. The security agencies will give full account soon.”
Security agencies have successfully rescued all the kidnapped pupils and teachers in Orire, Oyo State, with one of the victims expressing appreciation to President Bola Tinubu and the security agencies.
