Marseille Back to Second in Ligue 1 with Gouiri’s Brilliant Hat-Trick

Amine Gouiri’s brilliant hat trick, featuring a sensational overhead kick, guided Marseille to a commanding 4-1 victory over Brest on Sunday, allowing them to reclaim second place in Ligue 1.

The win kept Marseille firmly in the hunt for Champions League qualification as they moved two points ahead of third-placed Lille, who also triumphed on Sunday.

Mason Greenwood, who has been in superb form, also added his 19th league goal of the season to restore Marseille’s lead after Brest had equalised through Abdallah Sima.

Gouiri’s stunning acrobatic finish came just before halftime, with his third goal in the second half completing the hat trick.

With only three matches left in the season, Marseille are looking to secure one of the top three spots in Ligue 1 to guarantee automatic qualification for next season’s Champions League.

However, they are in a fierce battle for European places, with just four points separating them from Strasbourg in seventh.

Next week, Marseille will face Lille in what promises to be a crucial clash for both sides as they fight for the coveted Champions League spots.
