Natasha Lied, Bribed Me to Frame Akpabio- Sandra Duru

UK-based activist Sandra Duru, also known as Prof Mgbeke, has alleged that Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan fabricated the sexual harassment accusations made against Senate President Godswill Akpabio.

In a Facebook livestream on Thursday, Ms Duru claimed that the Kogi Central senator offered her ₦200 million to falsely accuse Mr Akpabio of organ harvesting.

According to Ms Duru, phone call recordings between her and the suspended lawmaker serve as sufficient proof of the alleged plot.

She said, “I had to redirect the conversation, and then she admitted it (sexual advances) didn’t happen. She said, ‘I don’t have evidence.’”

Ms Duru further stated, “I told Natasha, ‘You’re a pathological liar. You’ve brought shame upon us Nigerians.’ She replied that Nigerians were ‘G and H’ – ‘Gullible and Hungry.’ I asked her, ‘Do you really want to add to their problems?’”

The activist added that she advised Senator Natasha to reconcile with her fellow lawmakers, but the senator allegedly insisted that “they want to destroy the government.”

“I don’t know what she meant by that,” Ms Duru remarked. “Natasha is unteachable, arrogant, and dismissive. If things don’t go her way, she sees you as an enemy. She’s on a mission to destroy men… I can’t just sit and watch her tear down our men, our sons, and even the young women who follow her blindly.”

Allegations and Suspension Background

Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan first made her sexual harassment allegations against Mr Akpabio during a televised interview in February 2025. She claimed that he made inappropriate remarks and implied her legislative proposal would only be considered if she “took care” of him. She also alleged that he invited her for private time together.

Mr Akpabio strongly denied the allegations, stating he had never harassed any woman and urging Nigerians to allow the courts to address the matter.

On March 6, 2025, the Senate suspended Senator Natasha for six months without pay, citing “unruly and disruptive conduct.” Her harassment complaint was dismissed due to procedural violations—she submitted it herself, rather than through another senator, in breach of Senate rules.

The suspension followed a row over new seating arrangements in the chamber, which she believed were designed to demean her. Later, she asserted during a national broadcast that the suspension was retaliation for her refusal of Akpabio’s alleged advances—a claim he continues to deny.

The Senate stated that the suspension might be lifted if she issued a formal apology. The matter sparked protests across multiple states under the rallying cry, “We Are All Natasha,” with demonstrations in cities like Lagos, Enugu, Edo and Kaduna.

Calling the Senate’s actions a “witch-hunt,” Senator Natasha claimed the move was an attempt to suppress her voice. She raised the matter before an international audience at a United Nations Women in Parliament event, where she labelled her suspension as illegal and sought global backing.

Meanwhile, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) dismissed a petition to recall her, stating it did not meet constitutional criteria.

The two senators have had previous confrontations. In July 2024, Mr Akpabio publicly reprimanded her during a Senate session, saying, “We are not in a nightclub,” after she spoke out of turn. The remark was widely condemned as sexist, prompting an apology from the Senate President.
