Senegal has reported a robust start to oil production at its Sangomar offshore field, with 3.8 million barrels of crude oil already extracted and sold on the global market since operations began earlier in 2025. This was disclosed in a statement released by the country’s Ministry of Energy, Petroleum and Mines.
According to the ministry, four shipments—designated SAN027, SAN028, SAN029, and SAN030—have so far been lifted and successfully traded internationally. The government confirmed that output from the Sangomar field continues to perform strongly and is on track to meet its full-year forecast.
“Output forecasts for this oil and gas field remain unchanged for 2025 at approximately 30.53 million barrels. In the first quarter of 2025, a total volume of 548,078 normal cubic metres of natural gas was sold,” the statement read.
The Sangomar field is situated roughly 100 kilometres offshore from Dakar, the capital of Senegal. The field marks a significant milestone in Senegal’s efforts to position itself as a key energy player in the region and boost its economy through resource development.
