Wanted Socialite Aisha Achimugu to Honour EFCC Summons on Tuesday

Abuja-based entrepreneur and socialite, Aisha Sulaiman Achimugu, who was declared wanted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for alleged money laundering offences, is expected to honour the summons today to defend herself against fraud accusations.

There are reports that the anti-corruption agency is currently detaining her after she returned from London on Tuesday.

Her legal representatives informed the High Court in Abuja that their client had already filed court documents indicating her intention to be present at the EFCC headquarters in Abuja on April 29 to present her version of events related to the ongoing investigation.

Achimugu’s attorneys, Kehinde Ogunwumiju, SAN, and Chikaosolu Ojukwu, SAN, conveyed this information to Justice Inyang Ekwo during a lawsuit filed for the enforcement of fundamental rights against the Nigeria Police Force, Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission, State Security Service, EFCC, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, and Nigerian Immigration Service.

The anti-corruption agency, through its spokesperson, Mr. Dele Oyewale, issued a statement requesting that the Nigerian public provide information regarding Achimugu’s whereabouts after she was declared wanted.

The EFCC is investigating a case involving conspiracy, fraud, money laundering, corruption, and the possession of assets believed to have been illicitly obtained. The multi-million naira case reportedly involves MBA Trading and Capital Limited, according to the EFCC.

It was noted that the trial court, in response to Achimugu’s suit labelled FHC/ABJ/CS/626/2025, ordered the EFCC and five other security agencies on April 11 to submit their replies to her lawsuit, which requests a halt to her arrest and detention.

During a court session, Senior Advocate of Nigeria Kehinde Ogunwumiju, representing Achimugu, reminded the court that the case was postponed to allow the respondents to explain why the requests made by his client should not be approved.
