Reputation, is earned through ethical leadership, accountability and service, especially under pressure and without expectation of recognition. Those honoured are distinguished not only by their achievements, but by the principled manner in which they have pursued them, demonstrating respect for the communities and institutions they influence.
Spanning governance and enterprise, culture and science, media and civil society, sport and innovation, the 2026 list reflects Africa’s diversity across regions, generations, and the global diaspora. What unites those recognised is a shared commitment to excellence and responsibility. Inclusion is neither permanent nor automatic; reputation is dynamic and demands continuous stewardship.
This generational and sectoral breadth is powerfully reflected in the individuals featured on the 2026 list. Among them is Dr. Magdi Yacoub, the eldest honouree, a world-renowned Egyptian-British cardiothoracic surgeon and professor whose pioneering contributions have reshaped modern heart surgery globally. Celebrated for advancing heart transplant techniques, developing the Ross procedure for heart valve replacement, and performing the United Kingdom’s first successful heart lung transplant, Dr. Yacoub’s legacy stands as a testament to decades of scientific innovation, humanitarian service, and an unwavering commitment to saving lives.

Kayode Akintemi, Managing Director and Editor-in-Chief of News Central TV, is also among the selected Nigerians honoured by the Global Reputation Forum. The veteran broadcast journalist and media executive was recognised for his exemplary newsroom leadership, editorial discipline and the credibility he has built over decades in the industry, with a professional footprint evident across public platforms and within the media sector.
Other Nigerians honoured include, Dr Paul Enenche, Senior pastor of Dunamis International Gospel Centre (DIGC); Bishop David Oyedepo, founder of the Living Faith Church Worldwide, and Senior Pastor of the Faith Tabernacle, among others.
