At least 19 Afghan migrants, including an infant, have died after an inflatable boat sank in the Aegean Sea off southwestern Turkey, authorities said on Wednesday.
The Turkish coast guard said the vessel had ignored repeated warnings to stop and continued moving at high speed before taking on water and capsizing near Bodrum.
Rescue teams recovered 18 bodies and saved 21 people, but one of the survivors later died in the hospital, bringing the death toll to 19.

Officials said all those on board were Afghan nationals, and initial findings point to rough sea conditions as a contributing factor.
Search efforts are ongoing for one person believed to be missing, while authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
“Following the initial interviews with the rescued migrants, search operations are continuing for one irregular migrant who is believed to be missing,” the coast guard said.
The tragedy shows the ongoing risks along the migration route between Turkey and nearby Greek islands, a frequently used but dangerous passage into the European Union.
