Nigerian Wrestler Oborududu Shifts Focus to Bronze After Semi-Final Defeat

Nigeria’s Blessing Oborududu lost her semi-final bout in the women’s 68kg freestyle wrestling at the Paris 2024 Olympics, failing to secure a spot in the final.

Blessing, competing in her third fight of the day, was defeated by Kyrgyzstan’s Meerim Zhumanazarova, who won 3-1 on points.

Oborududu struggled to gain momentum after a head clash with her opponent, which affected her performance in the second half of the match.

The Tokyo 2020 silver medalist will now shift her focus to the Repechage round, where she will battle for a bronze medal on Tuesday.
