Declan Rice has set his sights on silverware in 2025 as Arsenal continues their pursuit of Liverpool in the Premier League title race.
The Gunners moved into second place after a narrow 1-0 victory over Ipswich on Friday. However, they remain six points adrift of league leaders Liverpool, who also have a game in hand.
Arsenal have finished runners-up to Manchester City for the past two seasons, but Rice is determined to see the club shed their “nearly men” tag.
“Hopefully the new year brings trophies—we’ve been pushing for that. To make the next step to be among the elite, you have to win stuff,” Rice told Amazon Prime. “We can keep winning games, but it means nothing if you don’t win anything.”

Liverpool, now under the management of Arne Slot, have maintained their relentless form, losing just once in 17 league matches this season. Rice acknowledged the difficulty of keeping up with the Merseyside club.
Arsenal’s chase has been complicated by Bukayo Saka’s hamstring injury, which is expected to keep the England winger out until at least March.
“Tonight was different without him—he’s been our main man,” Rice admitted. “We’re going to have to adapt. It’s a great chance for players to step up over the coming months and make their mark.”
Rice also reflected on his form, saying he’s feeling rejuvenated after recovering from the demands of England’s Euro 2024 campaign.
“I had a slow start after the Euros, but in the last couple of weeks, I’ve found my feet again and I’m feeling back to myself,” he added.
With Liverpool showing no signs of slowing down, Arsenal’s title hopes rest on maintaining their own form and capitalising on any slip-ups from the leaders. As the Gunners head into 2025, Rice’s rallying call underscores their ambition to turn potential into tangible success.
