Former Osun State Governor Bisi Akande has alleged that the 2020 EndSARS protest, which caused major disruptions to Nigeria’s economy, was a coordinated effort aimed at undermining President Bola Tinubu.
In an interview on State Affairs with Edmund Obilo, published on YouTube on Wednesday, Akande claimed that the protest was orchestrated by the Obidient movement and funded from the United States.
He further suggested that the movement’s ultimate aim was to derail Tinubu’s presidential ambitions, labelling the EndSARS campaign as a well-funded operation with international backing.
He stated, “EndSARS was designed to be the end of Tinubu. Those behind the protest knew that was their goal.
“The Obidients were behind EndSARS; it was manufactured in America to stop him.
“They came from America to stage EndSARS, which later evolved into a movement trying to form a party, but they can’t form a party. It was well planned and organised with a lot of money from America.”
