Public sector workers in Delta State are set to receive an extra month’s pay following the enactment of new legislation by Governor Sheriff Oborevwori.
Governor Oborevwori signed the 13th Month Salary Law, 2026, alongside four other bills in Asaba on Wednesday.
The new law, part of the administration’s “MORE Agenda,” is intended to improve productivity by boosting worker morale.
In addition to the salary provision, Oborevwori approved an increase in the state’s judicial capacity, raising the number of High Court judges from 46 to 50 and Customary Court of Appeal judges from nine to 12.
The legislative package also included the Public and Private Properties Protection Amendment Law, aimed at curbing unlawful occupation and property destruction.

Also, the Delta State Revenue Service (Consolidated) Law, 2026, was signed to streamline tax administration and reduce multiple taxation.
Development goes beyond infrastructure to include policies that improve lives, Oborevwori said, calling on relevant agencies to ensure the laws are implemented effectively.
The bills were presented by the Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Emomotimi Guwor, who stated that the legislation would bolster governance and protect investments.
Outgoing Head of Service Dr. Mininim Oseji praised the salary law, noting it would support family welfare and stimulate local business activity.
The signing ceremony was attended by senior state officials, including representatives of the Chief Judge and the President of the Customary Court of Appeal.
