Ten Missing After Plane Disappears in Alaska

A small commercial aircraft with ten individuals on board has been reported missing on Thursday in Alaska, according to authorities.

Alaska state police indicated that a Bering Air Caravan, carrying one pilot and nine passengers, was marked overdue on a flight from Unalakleet to Nome at 4:00 pm Alaska Standard Time (0100 GMT).

The distance between the two cities is approximately 235 kilometres across the Norton Sound.

In a statement, authorities said that search and rescue teams “are working to reach the last known coordinates” of the flight. This missing flight adds to a recent series of aviation tragedies in the United States.

On January 30, a passenger aeroplane collided midair with a US Army helicopter over Washington, resulting in the deaths of all 67 individuals on board.

This tragedy was soon followed by a medical plane crashing into a crowded neighbourhood in Philadelphia, leading to seven fatalities and 19 injuries.
