The authorities uploaded a video of rescue workers using ropes to try to reach the injured at the bottom of a deep valley.
Those who had significant injuries were evacuated to the hospital.
The troops were on their way to Narino, a department bordering Ecuador that is plagued by cocaine trafficking, to participate in security operations.
