Lagos DSVA Launches New Tools for Abuse Survivors

The Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA) has introduced two initiatives to improve access to support services for survivors of domestic and sexual violence, as well as mandated reporters.

In a statement on Friday, Adejoke Ladenegan-Oginni, Head of the Public Affairs Unit, reaffirmed the government’s commitment to tackling domestic and sexual violence.

The first initiative, Ask INU (I Need You), is a WhatsApp-based AI chatbot providing instant information and referrals. By messaging 0812 893 7058 on WhatsApp, users can receive confidential guidance on available support services.

The second initiative is a Self-Reporting Tool integrated into the Domestic and Sexual Violence Case Management System (DSVCMS). This allows survivors and mandated reporters to file reports directly and securely.

“This tool enables users to upload essential evidence, such as pictures, audio, video recordings, and medical reports, ensuring stronger evidence collection and preservation,” Oginni explained.

Survivors and mandated reporters can securely submit case details via lagosdsvcms.org by clicking the “Report” tab.

“This is crucial, as approximately 60% of survivors originally possessing pictorial, documentary, or audio evidence of abuse either misplaced it, deleted it, or had their devices destroyed by abusers,” Oginni added.

The platform ensures survivors can securely store and retrieve evidence when needed, enhancing prosecution efforts and strengthening domestic violence cases in Lagos State.

According to Titilola Vivour-Adeniyi, Executive Secretary of Lagos DSVA, these innovations demonstrate the Agency’s commitment to leveraging technology to support survivors, hold perpetrators accountable, and break the culture of silence.

Lagos State continues to lead in the fight against domestic and sexual violence, ensuring survivors receive justice while working to prevent future occurrences.
