A Magistrate Court sitting in Sabo, Yaba, has cleared Nigerian singer Abdulazeez Fashola, popularly known as Naira Marley, of any involvement in the death of Aloba Oladimeji Ilerioluwa, widely known as Mohbad.
Delivering the ruling on Tuesday, Magistrate Ejiro Kubenje upheld the legal advice from the Directorate of Public Prosecution (DPP), Lagos, stating that Naira Marley had no case to answer.
The court also discharged music promoter Samson Balogun Eletu (Sam Larry), singer Owodunni Ibrahim (Primeboy), and Mohbad’s former manager, Opere Babatunde, ruling that they were not linked to the tragic incident.
However, the DPP confirmed that Feyisayo Ogedengbe, the auxiliary nurse who treated Mohbad, and Ayobami Sadiq, one of the late singer’s associates, will be prosecuted for reckless and negligent acts under Section 251 (e) of the Criminal Law, Ch C.17, Vol.3, Laws of Lagos State, 2015. Their trial will proceed at the Magistrate Court.
