Manchester City reached the FA Cup semi-finals for a record seventh consecutive season with a hard-fought 2-1 win over Bournemouth on Sunday, but the victory was marred by an injury to Erling Haaland.

Haaland, who had a frustrating first half, missed a penalty and several chances before scoring the equaliser just after the break. However, he was forced off with an ankle injury, leaving City to battle without their star striker.

Omar Marmoush, who replaced Haaland, made an immediate impact by scoring the winner just two minutes later. Nico O’Reilly provided the assist, and Marmoush’s effort slipped through the hands of Bournemouth goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga.

City’s win sets up a semi-final clash with Nottingham Forest, but manager Pep Guardiola reflected on the team’s earlier struggles, admitting that while the FA Cup could offer solace, it wouldn’t erase a challenging season in the Premier League.

Guardiola praised his team’s attitude after their poor form earlier in the campaign, contrasting their performance today with the complacency shown in their earlier defeat to Bournemouth in November.

Despite a shaky first half, where Haaland missed three chances, including a penalty save by Kepa, City found their rhythm after the break.

Bournemouth had taken the lead through Evanilson, but City’s persistence and Marmoush’s quick impact ensured they secured a place in the semi-finals.
