China, Egypt Launch First Joint Air Force Exercise

China and Egypt have commenced their first-ever joint air force drill, marking a new chapter in military cooperation between the two nations, according to reports by Chinese state media on Sunday.

The exercise, dubbed “Eagles of Civilisation 2025,” began on Saturday morning at an air base in Egypt. China has sent a range of aircraft to participate, including fighter jets, early warning aircraft, aerial tankers, and helicopters, state broadcaster CCTV confirmed.

The Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA) Air Force has deployed its J-10C fighter jets, YU-20 aerial refuelling aircraft, and KJ-500 airborne early warning and control systems. Egypt, for its part, is taking part with its MiG-29 fighter jets.

The drill includes long-range manoeuvres and is intended to strengthen operational coordination between the two air forces.

China’s Ministry of Defence emphasised the importance of the exercise, saying it would foster deeper military cooperation and enhance mutual trust and friendship between Beijing and Cairo.
