President Bola Tinubu will attend the eighth-day prayer for the late Awujale of Ijebuland, Oba Sikiru Adetona, on Sunday.
This was disclosed in a statement issued on Friday by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.
According to the statement, President Tinubu will depart Abuja on Sunday to participate in the ceremony.

“The President will join Governor Dapo Abiodun and other dignitaries at the event, which will be held at the Dipo Dina Stadium in Ijebu-Ode,” the statement read in part.
Oba Adetona died on July 13, 2025, at the age of 91.
The monarch’s death came as the nation was still mourning the passing of former President Muhammadu Buhari, who died on Sunday.
His remains were interred at his private residence in the Government Reserved Area, Igbeba, Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State.
On Monday, dignitaries, traditional rulers, political figures, and local residents gathered in Ijebu-Ode to pay their final respects to the revered king, who had ruled for an extraordinary 65 years.
The Janazah (Islamic burial prayer) was conducted by the Chief Imam of Ijebuland, Miftaudeen Gbadegesin Ayanbadejo.
As a mark of respect, markets across the town were closed, following a directive from the Chairman of Ijebu-Ode Local Government Area, Dare Alebiosu, in honour of the late monarch.
