The Nigeria Police Force has dismissed as fake a public notice circulating on social media which claimed that a nationwide recruitment exercise would begin on 22 September 2025.
The viral document, titled “Nigeria Police Force Recruitment Exercise 2025”, invited applications from holders of SSCE, OND, HND, and B.Sc. qualifications, and listed supposed general requirements and application procedures.
According to the fraudulent notice, applicants were required to be Nigerian citizens by birth, possess a valid National Identification Number, and fall within specified age brackets — 18 to 25 years for SSCE and OND holders, and not more than 28 years for HND or B.Sc. holders. It also claimed that applicants must be physically and mentally fit, meet minimum height requirements, and have at least five credits including English Language and Mathematics in not more than two sittings.
The notice further warned against cult membership, outlined a list of required documents such as birth certificates and guarantors’ declarations, and directed applicants to submit their forms online via an alleged recruitment portal from 23 September 2025.

However, in a post on its verified X handle on Thursday, the Nigeria Police Force marked the notice with the word “FAKE” and clarified that it did not originate from its management.
It was reported earlier that the Police Service Commission (PSC) warned Nigerians seeking to join the force to disregard fake recruitment advertisements.
In a statement issued on 30 August, PSC spokesperson Ikechukwu Ani disowned an online advert on the commencement of the 2025 recruitment exercise, describing it as fictitious and misleading. He urged Nigerians eager to join the force to be patient and wait for the official announcement, stressing that the fake notices in circulation bear no resemblance to the Commission’s authentic communication.
