The Benin Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested 92 suspected internet fraudsters in Edo State.

The suspects were picked up in a sting operation on Monday, September 29, 2025, at different locations across Benin City.

In a statement released on Wednesday via X, the Commission said the arrests were based on credible intelligence linking the individuals to computer-related offences.

“All lawful procedures of arrest were followed in the course of the operation,” the EFCC said.

Items recovered from the suspects included 11 vehicles and several mobile phones. Preliminary findings have reportedly connected them to various forms of internet-related fraud.

The EFCC noted that the suspects would face prosecution once investigations are completed.

In a separate operation, the Commission announced that on September 23, 2025, its Ilorin Zonal Directorate arrested 28 suspected internet fraudsters in Kwara State. The operation took place in the Tanke, University Road, Oshin, and Agbabiaka areas of Ilorin.

Items seized during the Kwara raids included seven luxury cars, two motorcycles, along with phones and laptops allegedly used in cybercrime.
