U.S. President Donald Trump, for the first time, confirmed and explained his second hospital visit this year, revealing that he received an MRI scan.

The Republican billionaire, who turns 80 in June, has faced criticism for a perceived lack of transparency regarding his health.

His unexpected visit to the Walter Reed Medical Centre, near Washington, earlier in October had sparked renewed speculation about his physical condition.

“I did. I got an MRI. It was perfect,” Trump told reporters aboard Air Force One on Monday. “I gave you the full results. We had an MRI — the whole thing — and it was perfect,” he added.

MRI, or magnetic resonance imaging, is commonly used to diagnose a wide range of medical conditions, including tumours, strokes, multiple sclerosis, and muscular injuries.

The White House had previously declined to comment on the reason for Trump’s October 10 hospital visit, which was considered unusual since presidents generally undergo one comprehensive medical exam per year.

When asked why he had the scan, Trump declined to provide details, instead directing reporters to his doctors. “Nobody has ever given you reports like I gave you,” he said. “If I didn’t think it was good, I’d tell you. The doctor said these are some of the best results for my age they’ve ever seen.”

During his second term, Trump has occasionally appeared with bruising on his right hand, often covered with makeup. The White House attributed this to his use of aspirin as part of a “standard” cardiovascular care routine.

Earlier in the summer, the administration disclosed that Trump had been examined for swelling in his legs and diagnosed with chronic venous insufficiency — a common condition in which vein valves malfunction, allowing blood to pool. It can cause cramping and skin changes and is treatable with medication or minor procedures.

At the time of his most recent check-up, officials said all laboratory and heart test results were within normal ranges, showing no signs of arterial disease or deep vein thrombosis.

“President Trump continues to demonstrate excellent overall health,” his physician, Navy Captain Sean Barbabella, confirmed in a letter released by the White House.
