FC Barcelona celebrated their long-awaited return to the rebuilt Camp Nou stadium after a two-and-a-half-year absence with a dominant 4-0 victory over Athletic Bilbao, moving them level with Real Madrid at the top of La Liga.
The Spanish champions, led by coach Hansi Flick, experienced a “perfect day,” according to the manager, securing a clean sheet and three points in front of over 45,000 enthusiastic fans.
The scoring began early in the fourth minute when veteran striker Robert Lewandowski, wearing the captain’s armband, netted the first goal at the renovated ground.

The team doubled their lead just before halftime thanks to a goal from Ferran Torres, assisted by Lamine Yamal.
In the second half, Fermin Lopez scored after an aggressive high press by Eric Garcia, further securing the lead.
Athletic’s afternoon worsened when Oihan Sancet was shown a red card.
Torres then sealed his brace and the 4-0 scoreline with his second goal after another superb pass from Yamal.
The win marked the team’s first clean sheet since September.
