Several explosions hit Auchi, the headquarters of the Etsako West Local Government Area in Edo State, on Wednesday evening, causing damage to buildings and shops in different parts of the town.
The explosions happened at about 6:30 p.m. in three locations. The first was along Igbei Road, the second occurred in the Igbo Shade area near an AP filling station, while the third blast was recorded along the Auchi–Okene Road close to Winners Junction.
Residents said properties worth millions of naira were destroyed across the affected areas.
As of the time of this report, the cause of the explosions was still unclear, and there was no confirmed information on deaths or injuries.
An eyewitness, who spoke to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on condition of anonymity, said the explosions occurred almost simultaneously and appeared coordinated.

The eyewitness described the incident as a possible planned attack and called for a full investigation.
However, police sources gave a different explanation. A source at the Auchi Divisional Police Station told NAN that a fuel tanker had earlier fallen along the expressway, spilling petrol into drainage channels.
The source said the spilt fuel later caught fire and exploded at different points.
After the tanker accident, some residents were seen scooping fuel, raising fears of another explosion.
The police source added that the affected areas were cordoned off to prevent loss of lives, while investigations continue to find out the exact cause of the explosions.
