Messi Extends Nashville Scoring Streak In Draw

Argentine football star Lionel Messi has scored again against Nashville, but Inter Miami were held to a 2-2 draw by the MLS leaders on Saturday.

Messi curled in a superb 62nd-minute strike at Miami’s Nu Stadium to put Inter Miami ahead 2-1.

However, Nashville striker Sam Surridge scored an injury-time equaliser to secure a point for the league leaders.

The goal extended Messi’s remarkable record against Nashville to 17 goals in 14 appearances across all competitions since joining Miami in 2023.

The 39-year-old Argentine could have added to his tally, hitting the underside of the crossbar in the 50th minute and the post in the 78th.

Nashville defender Jeisson Palacios also cleared a late Messi effort before Surridge’s equaliser.

Nashville had taken an early lead in the fourth minute when Surridge beat the offside trap before firing a low shot into the bottom corner.

Miami equalised before half-time after Messi’s dangerous corner was headed into the Nashville net by defender Reed Baker-Whiting.

Messi then restored Miami’s lead after combining with former Argentina teammate Rodrigo De Paul before curling the ball beyond goalkeeper Brian Schwake.

The draw leaves Inter Miami nine points behind Nashville in the Eastern Conference with nine regular-season games remaining.
