“The amount is for political office holders who served between 2022 and 2023 across the 16 local government areas of the state.”

The Ekiti State Independent Electoral Commission last week announced that local government elections would hold across the state on December 12, 2026.

EKSIEC Chairman Justice Cornelius Akintayo (retd.) said voting will take place between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m. across the state, in line with Section 5, Sub-section 1 of the EKSIEC (Fourth Amendment) Law No. 13 of 2025.

All registered political parties are required to collect Form 001 at the commission’s headquarters on behalf of their candidates.

With the tenure of current local government chairmen and councillors set to end in December 2026, the elections are expected to usher in new officeholders.
