The Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) has issued a caution to heads of examination centres and the public against fraudsters claiming to be members of the board’s security committee.

UNEB, in a press release on Tuesday, signed by its spokesperson, Jennifer Kalule-Musamba, said it had received reports of impostors conning head teachers and school directors out of their money.

According to the exam board, the individuals allegedly claim they can help improve candidates’ grades or remove schools from lists of centres suspected of involvement in examination malpractice.

UNEB cautioned heads of examination centres at all levels against engaging with such individuals.

The board said it does not condone the vice and appealed to the public to report such cases to the police or to inform UNEB through its toll-free lines, 0800-111-427 and 0800-211-077.

It added that anyone who provides useful information will be protected under the board’s whistleblower policy.
