Ghana’s Health Minister, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, has praised health workers nationwide for their dedication, describing them as the backbone of the country’s healthcare system.

In an end-of-year message, Akandoh thanked doctors, nurses, midwives, allied health professionals, administrators, and other frontline staff for their dedication, often shown under difficult working conditions.

“As we draw the curtains on the year, I extend warm greetings to all citizens, particularly our hardworking health professionals across the length and breadth of the country,” Akandoh said.

The minister also noted that the government has taken steps to expand access to quality healthcare, improve health financing, and place the welfare of health workers at the centre of policy decisions.

He assured health workers that the government remains committed to resolving concerns about conditions of service, logistics, and outstanding obligations, adding that continued engagement with relevant institutions would help achieve fair and lasting solutions.

Akandoh also urged the public to adopt healthier lifestyles and support national health programmes focused on disease prevention and health promotion.
