Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf, has approved an extensive welfare package for the father whose wife and six children were brutally murdered in the Chiranci Dorayi area of the state. The support includes sponsorship for Hajj and Umrah, provision of a new house and full government assistance.
The governor announced the measures on Wednesday during a condolence visit to the grieving family, describing the killings as one of the most distressing tragedies in Kano’s recent history.
Yusuf said the incident had deeply shaken the state and stressed that the government had a responsibility to stand by the bereaved father and ensure he was not left to face the tragedy alone.

Residents of Kano were thrown into shock on Saturday after assailants murdered a family of seven—a mother and her six children—in their home, sparking public outrage and renewed concerns about domestic violence and insecurity in residential areas.
Security agencies launched investigations the same day and arrested three suspects in connection with the killings.
In a statement issued on Wednesday by the governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, the government said the intervention reflected its commitment to compassion, justice and social protection for victims of violent crimes.
The statement confirmed that the governor approved a new and suitable house, comprehensive welfare support and sponsorship for Hajj and Umrah to help the bereaved father rebuild his life.
Yusuf also assured the family that the state would take full responsibility for the man’s welfare, including support should he decide to remarry, and any assistance required to help him start afresh with dignity.
On the matter of justice, the governor directed the Kano State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice to fast-track the prosecution of the suspects already in custody, warning that the government would not tolerate delays.
He pledged that anyone found guilty would face the full weight of the law and said he would sign the death warrant once the courts concluded the case. He added that the same resolve would apply to other high-profile cases in the state once convictions were secured.
Yusuf praised the Nigeria Police Force, the Department of State Services and other security agencies for their swift and coordinated response, which led to the arrest of the suspects.
In appreciation of the government’s intervention, the bereaved father donated his personal house to the Kano State Government for the construction of an Islamiyya school to serve the Chiranci community.
The governor prayed for Allah to grant the deceased eternal rest and to give their family and the people of Kano State the strength to bear the loss.
In a related development, Yusuf also paid condolence visits to the family of the late Dr Bature AbdulAziz, President of the National Patriotic Elders Forum for Peace and Unity, and to Baba Umar, Executive Secretary of the Kano State Private and Voluntary Schools Board, following the death of his mother.
