The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has scheduled its national convention for March 28 and March 29, 2026, in Abuja.
The decision was announced on Monday by the party’s National Caretaker Committee (NCC) in a communique issued after the 105th meeting of its National Executive Committee (NEC).
The communique was read by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Haruna Mohammed, at the end of the meeting, which took place at the official residence of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, in Abuja.
The party also scheduled its ward and local government congresses for February 2026, while state congresses are expected to be held in March.
According to the communique, the NEC directed the NCC, working with the National Organising Secretary and other relevant party organs, to issue detailed guidelines and procedures for the conduct of the congresses.
The NEC said all activities must be carried out in accordance with the PDP constitution, the Independent National Electoral Commission regulations, and existing court orders.
The party’s NEC also unanimously reaffirmed all resolutions reached at its 104th emergency meeting held on December 7, 2025, declaring them binding and lawful.

It welcomed a judgment of the Federal High Court in Ibadan, which upheld the legality of the party’s current leadership structure and directed INEC to recognise the caretaker committee.
The NEC resolved that all party members and organs must continue to comply with existing court judgments and urged INEC and other institutions to do the same.
The party further reaffirmed the authority of the Mohammed-led caretaker committee, with Anyanwu serving as secretary, and said the NCC remains the only lawful national administrative body of the PDP until the national convention is held.
It also approved the extension of the tenure of the National Caretaker Working Committee and other caretaker committees at state and zonal levels pending the conduct of congresses.
The NEC mandated the NCC to immediately activate convention sub-committees and begin preparations to ensure a transparent and credible national convention.
The party called on its members and supporters across Nigeria and in the diaspora to remain law-abiding and committed to the party’s principles.
