The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has introduced its new Digital Certificate Services System, WAEC DigiCert, for use in its five member countries: Nigeria, Ghana, The Gambia, Liberia, and Sierra Leone.
The announcement was contained in a statement issued on Monday and signed by Demianus Ojijeogu, Head of Public Affairs at WAEC Headquarters, Accra, Ghana, on behalf of the Registrar.
The platform is “a mobile and web-based application that provides enormous benefits to the various stakeholders,” WAEC noted.
It added that it offers “simple features that enable users to access, request, confirm or share digital forms of the original certificates.”
WAEC DigiCert “received positive feedback from candidates and educational institutions worldwide” after a successful pilot in Nigeria, the Council revealed.

The council encouraged stakeholders to consider using the platform to access certificates, reducing administrative delays and bottlenecks associated with manual issuance and collection.
But WAEC also made it clear that this innovation will not affect the usual printing and issuance of certificates.
The mobile application is available on both the App Store and Play Store, and additional information can be found on WAEC’s official website and social media accounts.
WAEC also announced that the 2025 Second Series Computer-Based West African Senior School Certificate Examination results for private candidates have been released.
Candidates can confirm their results on www.waecdirect.org before accessing their digital certificates on www.waec.org.
